Why They Can't Teleport Today?
When moments of overflowing emotions arise and we want our special someone to be next to us so we can spend time together, we wish that they could teleport. Yet, mostly the answer is "I can't.". So why they cannot be next to us immediately?
First of all there are few types of teleportation, quantum teleportation, wormhole teleportation, matter reconstruction and finally physical (MAGICAL!) teleportation.
If we ask the question, why we cannot use quantum teleportation,
Answers are various. Mainly, quantum teleportation is somewhat a quantum state between entangled particles, not directly atoms or molecules. So it is much more smaller event than any actual physical object can make a use of. Yet, let's assume it is, the another problem is the Heisenberg's uncertainty principle. Which makes impossible to measure every particle in human body without destroying original information. Also it is impossible to copy them.
Why again? Let's take it as this, imagine you are in a dark room and there is a tiny, insanely fast squirrel in there. You want to know where it is and how fast it's running at the same time but if you shine the flashlight to see where it is the light startles the squirrel! So it moves even faster, if you try to measure how fast it runs then without the light you cannot see exactly where it is. So according to this principle, the more you know about the position, the less you know about speed. The tiny squirrel is the electrons! And they are so small that even looking at them changes what they are doing.
Among those reasons there is also the problem that we have approximately ten octillion atoms and recording their quantum states is a data so much that probably earth wouldn't even fit the data inside.
Well, then let's find a wormhole or create one right?
Well... We haven't really found one yet. Unlike blackholes, wormholes are not exist if we go by material proof. Yet according to Einstein's field equations and Karl Schwarzchild's solution to that it says there are Einstein-Rosen bridges but they collapse too fast to travel. The Einstein-Rosen bridge is a mathematical structure that connects two separate points in spacetime, which we call as "wormhole".
So what says it exists?
Kip Thorne's and Michael Morris expanded the idea in 1988, which showed us that traversable wormholes requires negative energy. Which is again only a theoretical concept in physics.
Still, let's assume we found one...
They are unstable, without negative energy and even if we provided negative energy (which is almost impossible) then there will be navigation issues. Because we can't control where it leads.
Okay, alright but we still have matter reconstruction right..?
This one is a bit out of reach for us, because reconstructing a matter atom by atom would require enormous amount of energy, even far more than we can generate at all. Even if we had the data and technology, which is again, way too advanced for today's world, powering would be a great pain that we can't deal with.
What if the power is provided?
Well.. there is destruction and copying to transmit the original object or the special someone you have. Which would create a critic ethical and philosophical concern for humanity. Besides that, there is also the Theseus Ship problem which is in basic terms;
About a ship and it has a broken part so we replace it with new one and gone on and on until every part is completely replaced. Is it the same ship with original one or completely different existent?
Even after those controversial possibilities there is the problem of stability, because creating such precise reconstructions might lead to errors where the result can be unstable completely or even harmful. Especially depending how the atoms and molecules were reassembled.
What if.. they have superpowers that can psychically teleport!?!??!
Sshh... They do have, they are just not saying it to us.
