About Depression
Depression is something bigger than we think. Depression comes with big events such as heavy trauma and so on... People who struggles with depression doesn’t know they are in depression. They first face characteristic changes because of their body’s survival mode. People around them may try to support them but in a wrong way or judge them by their change without even knowing what they are dealing with.
Depression is not something to be romanticized. It is like a cancer flowing through your body and soul. It makes you feel unworthy or even making you feel anything at all. You will lose your appetite, lose your joy and energy. It will make you aggressive towards anything and everything.
People who have depression will be harsh on themselves. They may try to harm themselves. They will think that harming themselves, feeling the pain, will make them feel alive for some time. They will be at a state that no one –even themselves- cannot help. And it does not have to be always physical but their mind will be in a war already.
If you want to help them, don’t judge them. They may tell you things “everyone struggles that” kind of problems but they won’t tell you how it feels and how did they ended up dealing with depression... even if they tried to, they couldn’t because they don’t know about that too.
If you have someone dealing with depression around you, be kind. And if you are the one who deals with depression, be kind to yourself. Understand that not everyone hates the way you hate yourself. You are so strong that even your own hate is destroying you. You are so strong that you can make your primal body hurt itself. It is not easy to cut the stress or the people makes you stressed, yes. But why are you making yourself stressed too?
No one has to love everyone but you have to respect yourself. You have come this far reading this blog... Hard to accept that someone you don’t know can love you, but I love you. You are not alone. You have yourself. Take care.
